.
Choucroute is French for Sauerkraut, sounds much better than Sauerkraut Burger doesn’t it?!  I had my doubts about this burger going into it, and guess what?  When all is said and done, it ranks right up there as one of, if not thee, BEST damn burger I’ve ever made!  And I don’t want to hear a word out of you about it being a patty melt.  Sure it is, but it’s a burger too.

Choucroute Burger

Mix to combine in large bowl, making sure not to over-handle.  Make into 4-6 equal sized pattiies:

3/4 lb Ground Turkey
3/4 lb Hot Italian Sausage
1 Cup Drained Sauerkraut – not canned. Jarred or from the refrigerator section of your grocer
4 Garlic Cloves Minced
2 Tbsp Minced Onion
1 1/2 Tbsp Caraway Seeds
1 Tbsp Chipotle Sauce – optional

Grill or pan fry until juices run clear when pierced in the center.   Just
before removing from heat place some slices of :

Triple Cream Cheese
I used this one, although Brie  or Camembert would work just as well.

Serve on slices of:

Rye Bread

Top with Apple Salsa

Combine:

1 Garlic Clove minced
2 Green Granny Smith Apples diced fine
1/4 Cup Lea & Perrins Marinade for Chicken DO NOT SUBSTITUTE With regular worcestershire – they are NOTHING alike!
