About

Dear Famdamily:

After years of having to dig up old favorites from the shelves of cookbooks or trying to read someone’s chicken scratching or not being able to reach them and going without. After being emailed or called for a recipe and being asked can you send that to me……and, shit, I typed it up for someone forever ago and now I can’t find it and I sure as hell don’t want to type it up again.

After all of our travels and only hearing snippets or being sent a recipe from one of you and filing it into the bowels of my email never to return to again. I am tired and need an answer to this madness.

On our last trip John & I met up with Niki & ‘Frank’, and at the Borough Market we came up with a solution ~ Food o’ del Mundo ~

Aren’t you all lucky! Finally a resting place for all our food adventures. A central location for all those “farm favorites”.  An oasis of recipes, photos and stories of food troughs past and present.

The only hitch – you all are participating.

And as you share I will put a little profile of you below, so anyone peeking in here can get an understanding as to

who’s who!

~ Mary ~ Number three out of six. John’s companion and Mickey’s sister in story above. Live in Chicago and have worked in the food service industry going on 25 years. Grew up on a farm in Minnesota with siblings: Kev ~ J.P. ~ Kate ~ Sean ~ Mickey and parents: Fred & Patty.  I cook things on HIGH and somehow it’s always raw.

~ Wanda ~ I married Sean in 1996. We live in Seattle and have three kids Colin 21, Emma 10 and Gannon 8.  We’ve lived in some great places and had some great culinary experiences – can’t wait to share them with you!

~ Emma ~ I’m Sean’s and Wanda’s 10 year old daughter.  I’m in fifth grade and started cooking over a year ago.  It’s sooo much fun!  My favorite recipes are the sweet ones.

~ Our matriarch ~ Patty ~ I was born Patty Mullen on St Patrick’s Day many years ago.  I am an old Irish storyteller.  I was a “city girl” transplanted to a farm after two year jaunts in Europe and South Africa.  Cooking is my avocation. Currently, I’m trying to do a perfect stir fry.

~ J.P. ~  Second oldest of the six.  Never expected to live in Minnesota this long.  Married to Kori and have two kids Sam 18 and Tess Grubbins 16.  I’m good at weekly menu planning when I have the time and enjoy cooking with the kids.

~ John ~  I met Mary in 1997 and we’ve been together ever since.  Grew up in New Jersey.  Started working in food service as a teenager in Big Jim’s Pizzeria doing kitchen prep. Still work in the industry, but leave all the home cooking to Mary.

~ Sean ~  I’m number five of the six siblings and married to Wanda.   I have the same three kids listed under her profile above.  I had many nicknames growing up here are a few of them: Rhondo Man, Chink, Sunshine, China Buns.  Even though Mickey thinks he’s got the market cornered on it – I’m an excellent Grill Master! Just check this out for proof.  I also am getting pretty serious about home brewing.

~ “Frank” ~ I am not sure I want to admit relation to anyone on this site, so I prefer the alias my family gave me when I was 6 years old, Frank, Frank P. Wyler.  I added the P. in later years to avoid further prosecution.  I live in Belgium where the shiny happy people make up for the lack of sun.

~ Katy ~   I’ve come a long way from burning boiled potatoes and my childhood specialty of Salisbury Steak and Million Dollar Brownies.  I live in Minneapolis, know all the cool joints and entertain friends and family regularly. Let’s just say I throw a mean party!

~ Kev ~ Since we were kids Kev has always worked hard at parceling his time – so he’ll be ”posting”  through the rest of us – unless we catch him on a day he has some free time -hahahahohohohehehehehe!  He is an Ornithologist, lives in Alaska with Rose and frequently travels to some seriously remote areas of the world to study those crazy birds!

~ Niki ~ Lives with ‘Frank’ and keeps him organized and in-line!  We like to see her as often as possible! She’s Dutch and even though we give her a razzin’ now and then she speaks perfect english. We’re definitely lucky to know her.
