Thank you to everyone who voted for us in Foodbuzz’ Project Food Blog
to get us to this round. A new voting session begins October 18th,
and you can go HERE to place your new vote.

Mary: When I sent out the email for the pizza challenge, I figured JP, Kori, Tess and Sam would take it away; it’s their specialty, after all. I was more than a little wrong, and everyone wanted to enter their favorite take on the old classic. ”One?! Just one?!” was the outcry. Heck, we love pizza almost as much as we do burgers and cake. Don’t get us wrong, we do love a traditional pie and Chicago’s deep dish is world class, but for a competition it’s got out be out of the ordinary in an extraordinary way.
.
Here we go with our Virtual Pizza Party. In the spirit of competitiveness, instead of just doing a pizza round-up, I made each of the pizzas again and shot them anew. There’s no room for slacking this far into a competition.

Thai Chicken Pizza click photo for recipe
Crust: Traditional
Sauce: Peanut
Toppings: Chicken, Mozzarella, Carrots, Bean Sprouts, Cilantro
Sam: I love the nutty taste this pizza has! Depending on how much heat you can handle, the sauce can be made to suit your taste buds, while also tasting like peanut butter at the same time! The secret’s in the sauce! |
.
Savory Strawberry Pizza
click photo for recipe
Toppings: Strawberries, Goat Cheese, Frissee
Sauce: White Balsamic Reduction, and Red Balsamic Reduction
Crust: Traditional
Kori: The goat cheese spread complemented the strawberry flavors. Hot or cold, this pizza is a treat!

Garlic Glazed Chicken Pizza click photo for recipe
Toppings: Chicken, Gruyere, Mozzarella, Green Onions, Sesame Seeds
Sauce: Garlic Glaze
Crust: Beer Cheese or Traditional
JP: A while back we had a “favorites” party for work. One of our staff and her husband hosted the gig and everyone was to bring their favorite dish in the world. It could be anything, from anywhere. We made this pizza, putting it on a beer cheese bread crust, and brought two huge pizzas on cookie sheets. The party was great – it was an eating party, after all. Everyone went home stuffed… |
…leaving the leftovers behind. We learned that the next morning the host couple had a tough time sharing the leftovers and eventually struck a bargain. He got the last slice of pizza while she finished off the quart of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream (from the Grand Old Creamery).

Fig & Proscuitto Pizza click photo for recipe
Toppings: Blue Cheese, Proscuitto, Figs
Sauce: Honey, Balsamic, Onion Reduction
Crust: Traditional
Wanda: This is delicious, everything about it rocks. The flavor of the figs, cheese and balsamic onions are heavenly and then adding the proscuitto put it over the top. It was extra special when we lived in California and our neighbor had a fig tree and brought us fresh figs.

Breakfast Pizza click photo for recipe
Toppings: Fontina Cheese, Breakfast Sausage, Sage, Eggs, Red Onion
Sauce: Asparagus Puree
Crust: Traditional
Patty: How many years have I tried to make “Pizza Eggs”? They never turned out. You kids would get that ‘not again’ look and eat them without any moaning or groaning. (In retrospect, that was so nice of you!)
Who’da thunk somebody would come up with eggs ON pizza? What a revelation! I haven’t tried Pizza Eggs since!
|

|
Fruit Pizza click photo for recipe
Toppings: Fresh Fruits of choice, Cream Cheese Frosting.
Sauce: Orange Glaze
Crust: Sugar Cookie
Emma: It might sound a little strange but once you taste it you just might want to eat the whole thing!!! If any of you think this is like a dinner thing you are wrong it is a dessert big time it is so sweet and just amazing!!! You have got to try it!!!
